EC Company, Our History
In 1946 Electrical Construction Company was started to serve the electrical needs of the pulp and paper industry and other industrial markets. These first projects were successful and as time passed, electrical construction work expanded. In 1955 Electrical Construction Company entered into an agreement with a major supplier of generator sets to sell and service their products. This was the beginning of distribution and service known today as EC Power Systems. The 1960s and '70s brought continued growth and Northwest Marine Iron Works became the parent company of Electrical Construction. In 1985 Northwest Marine Iron Works sold Electrical Construction Company to the present owners.
Today EC Company has become a diversified organization that offers quality electrical services to a wide array of markets (advanced technology, commercial construction, industrial construction, renewable solutions, traffic signals & illumination, design/build, high voltage, low voltage, and 24/7 service work) as well as engine and generator distribution, with parts and service for over 30 brands and an everlasting commitment to quality craftsmanship.
At EC Company, we believe in the importance of giving back and supporting the causes that improve the lives of those around us; our employees, our clients, our families, and our neighbors. In the communities where we work and play, our goal is to make a difference and enrich our quality of life.
Loaves and Fishes
Each week 2 of our 30 plus employee volunteers take a company van and deliver meals to homebound seniors. This is a great reminder of how an hour or two can make a huge difference to those who can’t manage cooking or buying food for themselves.
More Loaves & Fishes Participation
- Drive for Meals-On-Wheels Benefit Golf Tournament
- Donation of gifts during Christmas
- Table sponsors at the annual luncheon
- Board of Directors member
Each year around Christmas time, our staff has the privilege of shopping for, and donating gifts and food to the families of our service men and women in the Armed Forces. Teams of office staff shop for gifts and then gather for an afternoon gift-wrapping session, followed by a week of house-calls to deliver clothes, toys and more to local military families in need.
Habitat for Humanity
Volunteers from several of our branches partner with Habitat for Humanity in their local areas to build two-to-three homes for deserving families each year. Our volunteer builders range in experience from highly skilled electricians to novice office employees.
Supporting Our People
We also support a variety of other causes that are important to our employees; youth sports team sponsorships, Race for the Cure participation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Oregon Food Bank, Red Cross Blood Drives and more...even building a school in Uganda, Africa.
We are deeply committed to the communities we serve, and to the causes that resonate with our employees.
