E C Company’s Vice President - Construction Steve Trapp was recently appointed by Governor Kitzhaber to serve a four-year commitment on two industry advisory boards; the Oregon Electrical and Elevator Board and the Construction Industry Energy Board.
Steve represents the electrical construction industry in the role of one of two electrical contractor board members, acting in an advisory role. Meeting every two months, the Electrical and Elevator Board hears arguments and addresses topics ranging from contractor fines to code changes and overall industry policy.
When asked why he chose to get involved in this capacity, Steve replied, “I became involved because I feel I need to give back to the industry and community. This is a great way to do that while making a positive impact.”
The Construction Industry Energy Board meets every six months to evaluate and approve or disapprove proposed state building code standards relating to the energy use and energy efficiency aspects of the electrical, structural, prefabricated structure and low-rise residential specialty codes.
The appointment process was rigorous, and included a background check, lengthy application, and Senate confirmation hearing.
